New York photographer shares memories of 9/11

David Handschuh, a longtime photographer for the New York Daily News, who was one of the first on the scene taking pictures of the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, recounted his experience on that day, during a special event Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, in Wilmington, Del.

The event, “September 11: Photographs and Memories,” which was hosted by the Delaware Press Association, included gave a multimedia presentation focusing on some of Handschuh’s images. Seriously injured while photographing on 9/11, Handschuh also spoke about the effects of trauma on journalists who report on it, a subject he has studied and written about over the years.

The event was sponsored by SPJ Greater Philadelphia Pro Chapter, Delaware Press Association, Delaware Humanities Forum, Out & About Magazine, Public Relations Society – Delaware Chapter, The Stephenson Group, Morgan Stanley and Synchrogenix Information Strategies.
